Pele elected Working President of NE Regional Taekwondo Federation

KOHIMA, JUL 20 (NPN): Nagaland strengthened its presence in the regional taekwondo administration with Pele Khezhie being elected as the Working President of the North East Regional Taekwondo Federation (NERTF), while Alem Aier was elected Treasurer during the federation’s general meeting held on Saturday evening at a city hotel in Guwahati.
The meeting, hosted by the All Assam Taekwondo Association (AATA), constituted the new executive committee for the 2026 term and deliberated on the federation’s future roadmap in line with the National Sports Code 2025.
Members unanimously elected Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand as the President of the federation, while Pele Khezhie of Nagaland was chosen as the Working President.
Hiranya Saikia of Assam and Joseph Thansanga of Mizoram were elected Vice Presidents, while Likha Robin of Arunachal Pradesh was elected Secretary General.
The Joint Secretaries elected were Jadumani Singh of Meghalaya, Hira Pradhan of Sikkim and Sujoy Kar of Tripura. Nagaland’s Alem Aier was elected Treasurer.
The meeting also constituted the Technical Committee comprising Dinesh Gupta and Ali Ahmed Zafri of Assam, Haripyari of Manipur, Vanlalsawma of Mizoram, Rupen Pradhan of Sikkim, Visabiu Peseyie of Nagaland and Mari Karbak of Arunachal Pradesh.
The newly elected executive committee is expected to steer the federation’s activities and strengthen the development of taekwondo across the North Eastern states in accordance with the National Sports Code 2025.
In a telephonic conversation, Khezhie said it was a huge responsibility and was hopeful that the body would be able to promote Taekwondo in the whole region.
He added that all the state associations were now working harder to produce players who would be able to perform both at the national and international platforms.
He said with the right support and encouragement athletes from the region would progress since we were natural gifted in these sports.
He exuded confidence that the union would bring about positive and tangible reforms to the discipline which would eventually help the youths to become more productive and self-reliant.
