KOHIMA, SEP 12 (NPN): PenThrill released its 124th publication “Longings: Poetry Effused in the Midst of Love and Betrayal” by debut author Khrieletuonuo Yhome at The Highland Institute, Kohima, on September 12.
The book was launched in the presence of special guest Dr. Medongu ü Khruomo, vice principal, GHSS Chiechama. Speaking at the launch, Dr. Khruomo described the occasion as a turning point and a new chapter in the author’s life. She said she was touched and inspired by the collection, encouraging Yhome to continue writing. Stating that writing a book is never an overnight achievement but the result of years of dedication and “burning the midnight oil,” she commended the author’s first collection of poetry, describing it as “a journey of a soul.”
Dr. Khruomo urged the gathering to read the book, noting that a book truly comes alive only when it is read. She encouraged readers to reflect on their own stories through the poems shared by the author.
Author Khrieletuonuo Yhome, in her remarks, said her inspiration for writing began during her high school years. She explained that Longings is more than a collection of poems, but a gathering of emotions, memories, questions and hopes drawn from different stages of life. While acknowledging that the poems were deeply personal, she said once they became a book, they could take on different meanings for every reader, which she described as one of the beautiful aspects of poetry.
Publisher Vishü Rita Krocha said every PenThrill publication marked a milestone in an author’s journey. She noted that launching a new author, as in Yhome’s case, signified the beginning of a writing career she hoped would continue in the years ahead.
The programme was chaired by Kikrulhoutuonuo Perpetua, while the dedicatory prayer was offered by pastor Keduoneituo Yhome of Phezoucha Baptist Church.
