People shop at Sunday market Assam despite sealing of border

People from Dimapur continue to shop at Sunday Market, Dillai gate, Karbi Anglong Assam despite sealing of all inter-state borders. Following the directive from the Police Headquarters and as per Election Commission of India standard operating procedure, Commissioner of Police Dimapur Kevithuto Sophie has ordered sealing of all inter-state borders for 72 hours with effect from February 25 till February 27 evening.
To procure their daily needs, many people from Dimapur were seen on Sunday heading towards the Sunday Market, Dillai gate, Karbi Anglong, Assam. However, in view of the sealing of border, all vehicles were not allowed entry into Assam side. Shoppers from Dimapur have to park their cars within the vicinity of the inter-state check gate (Nagaland side) and walk towards the market which is 600 to 700 metres away from the gate. Autorickshaw from Dimapur have to park their autorickshaws along the roadside (Nagaland side) and were compelled to wait for passengers who come from the Sunday market. Meanwhile, autorickshaw from Assam side were also seen transporting passengers from the Sunday Market till the inter-state gate. The market which was usually packed had a deserted look with many vendors not turning up and many market sheds were empty, however, shoppers were able to obtain their needs despite lesser turn-up of vendors.
As per the order, vehicle movement of essential commodities and other emergency services were allowed entry by registering details of vehicles and occupants in the car.
