Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Peren district held a coordination meeting at Ahthibung on December 14. The meeting was hosted by Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN).
In a press release, KIN informed that the meeting comprised of Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland, Zeliang Peoples’ Organisation, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation, Zeliang Students’ Union, Kuki Inpi Nagaland, Kuki Students Organisation and Kuki Nupi Kiloikhom.
During the programme, Thangkhokai Gangte delivered welcome address and L. Singsit IPS (Retd) Kuki Inpi president delivered the keynote address.
Speeches were also delivered by Zelaingrong Baudi president CR Zeliang, Nagaland Zeliang Peoples’ Organisation (NZPO) president Kevipele, representative from district administration, SDO (C) Peren, Kimsylile, Zeme council president, Zeliangrong youth, Zeliangrong Mapui Organisation president, Kuki Student Organisation president and Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland, Manipur, Assam president, Akhang.
The speakers of the consultation meeting stressed on the importance of maintaining peace and harmony for all-round progress and development of the district.
The CSOs also discussed maintenance and preservation of natural resources which they said was vital for sustenance of life and ecological imbalance.
The meeting constituted a Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising of Zeme Council vice president as convener, Kuki Inpi vice president as member, Liangmei Council vice president as member and Rongmei Council Peren vice president as member “to cater to emergency situations”.
The organisations agreed to conduct annual coordination meetings regularly and entrusted NZPO to host the next meeting.
The meeting was presided over by KIN speaker, Denis Hangsing while Zeliangrong Mothers Association chairperson, Apeuna said the benediction.
