To protest against “indifferent attitude” of NHIDCL to the concerns raised by stakeholders with regard to construction of NH-129A (Package 1), the civil society organisations (CSOs) of Peren town and Peren village council have announced to impose indefinite bandh on NH-129A starting July 31, 2023.
In a statement, the joint action committee stated they would restrict interstate movement of vehicles on NH 129A, which connects Nagaland and Manipur (Tepuiki Bridge).
JAC stated that the bandh was being imposed over the unaddressed issue of NH-129A package 1 (Peren town portion) despite numerous appeals and memorandum submitted.
JAC has informed the public to gather at government higher secondary school junction, Peren town at 9am, after which they would march towards Tepuiki Bridge at 9:30am.
CSOs of Peren town and Peren village council have requested the general public to extend support and participate in the agitation.
Meanwhile, in view of indefinite bandh, all the commercial establishments except pharmacies at Peren town have been advised to remain shut from 6am to 4pm on July 31, 2023.
District administration, police, paramilitary, medical emergencies and press have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
