With a vision to create a culture of entrepreneurship in the district and to strengthened and grow the existing entrepreneurs, Peren district administration launched Entrepreneur’s Club (EC) on May 1 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peren office.
According to a DIPR report, speaking at the launching programme, DC Peren, Vineet Kumar said the club envisages to “create a culture of entrepreneurship in the district and to strengthen and grow the existing entrepreneurs so that others can also get inspiration from them.”
He said the Club would be a platform to exchange ideas, share experiences and learnings, promote new entrepreneurs, and provide support. The DC hoped that EC Peren would traverse the path creating a roadmap for hundreds of youths.
Kumar asserted that the youth today face several challenges and the most critical was the lack of job opportunities and the issue of unemployment. He pointed out that jobs in the government sector were saturated while in the private sector, the jobs are limited and require specific skill sets.
Lamenting the “low desire” to take up entrepreneurship among the youth, the DC said it may be due to several factors such as low risk-taking traits, and a lack of right mindset for running an enterprise among others.
He said such outlook towards entrepreneurship may be attributed to a lack of exposure during formative years, lack of practical experience, and the absence of a culture of entrepreneurship. “Entrepreneur’s Club is therefore envisaged to overcome some of the challenges being faced by the entrepreneurs in the district,” added the DC.
A discussion was also held during the programme wherein entrepreneurs shared their entrepreneurial journey and the challenges faced in the process of setting up their businesses. The officers present also highlighted the different services available under government flagship programmes that provide a platform to promote entrepreneurs. The EC would also have successful entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, and officers of various departments as members. The launching programme was chaired by EAC Hq. Peren, Kevethito Rose.
