Peren Govt College 36th annual sports meet kicks off

The three-day long 36th annual sports meet 2024 of the Peren Government College (PGC) kicked off on February 28 at Peren Town local ground under the theme “Sports for Health”.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by president Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland, Adaube Hiekha, as the special guest. In his speech, Hiekha stressed on the importance of sports, as sports instil plenty of values. He maintained that discipline, resilience, teamwork are inculcated through sports. He reminded that sports can recognize the role of students not only in promoting physical fitness but also enhances mental well-being to unite and progress. The program was chaired by general secretary PGCSU, Gina, invocation by president PGCEU, Kewihimane, welcome note by principal PGC Dr. Phyobenthung, special number by Lhingneikin. Lighting of the sports meet torch by Pehiareulungbo and oath taking was administered by Asst. games and sports secretary, Menangmak.
