DIMAPUR

National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), under the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Peren, concluded Anti-Malaria Month 2025 with a series of awareness and prevention activities across the district. The campaign was held under the theme “Test, Treat, Track.”
According to a press release from CMO office Peren, District Vector Borne Disease Consultant Vimekhrie-u Metsieo informed that the campaign included school awareness sessions, testing camps, and community outreach initiatives, supported by ASHAs, health workers and the NVBDCP team.
Awareness drives covered 20 schools across the district, including Yatarang School, GHSS Ahthibung, GHS Bonkholong, Christian School, St. Joseph School, GMS Gaili, GMS Saijang, Ikiesing Memorial School, Chwang School, and others.
Students were sensitised on malaria transmission, elimination strategies, and how to prevent other vector-borne diseases. Marketplaces like New Jalukie, Ahthibung, Samzuiram, Ngwalwa, Peren town, and Jalukie also hosted awareness and screening camps.
Pamphlets in local dialects, posters, and public announcements were used to reach wider audiences as part of IEC and BCC efforts. A one-day advocacy meet was also held on June 27 at CMTC Hall, Jalukie, attended by ward chairmen, Goanburas, youth leaders, and community stakeholders who pledged support toward disease prevention.
The campaign concluded with screening of cadets and staff at Sainik School Punglwa after their return from summer break.
NVBDCP has urged the public to remain alert and take preventive steps to combat malaria.
