Working Coordination Committee on Zeliangrong Land Issues (WCCZLI) has threatened to impose an indefinite bandh on government offices and vehicles from November 1 in protest against the recognition of Khehoi village.
It was reported that the committee was firm on imposing the bandh unless their demand was fulfilled, sources added. In a representation to the DC Peren, WCCZLI convenor Kiezin Zeliang said the recognition of Khehoi village (erstwhile Kiavi ‘B’ village) was an “insult and direct challenge to the landowners– Lamhai village and Zeliangrong community.
WCCZLI pointed out that the recognition was accorded without following proper government norms and procedure and that the ‘No objection Certificate’ was also not obtained from the landowners (Lamhai village), which is a must while granting recognition.
Meanwhile, WCCZLI has warned that the state government will be held solely responsible of any eventuality that may arise out of the issue.
