Shillong, Sep 11 (NPN): Two motor cycle-borne persons hurled a petrol bomb at the Laban Police Station in the Meghalaya capital in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
A police official said the police station came under attack around 2:30 AM when miscreants hurled two petrol bombs.
CCTV footage from the police station shows two police personnel standing inside the premises running for safety.
No one was injured in the major attack, but the hood of a Gypsy vehicle parked inside the police station compound was partially burned.
“An investigation into the incident is underway to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack,” Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, said.
He said police are analysing the CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events.
This is the third police station within Shillong city limits to be attacked with a petrol bomb in a span of four weeks.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case.
