Fuel prices continue to burn a hole in the pocket of the common man as state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased the rates of petrol and diesel for the sixth consecutive day on Monday.
According to a price notification of OMCs, prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 35 paise per litre each pushing pump rates to new high across the country. After the latest rate revision, Petrol price has breached the Rs.110-a-litre mark in eight districts of Nagaland while diesel price has also crossed Rs.100-mark in all the districts.
Since September 5, when both petrol and diesel prices were revised, the price of petrol and diesel in the international market was higher by around $9-10 per barrel as compared to average prices during August.
Commercial LPG rates hiked: State-owned OMCs on Monday increased the rates of the 19 kg commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs 266 with immediate effect. However, there was no change in rates of domestic LPG cylinders.
