Petrol, diesel prices rise to all-time high

Diesel breaches Rs. 100 mark across Nagaland

State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased the prices of petrol and diesel for the fifth day in a row, taking rates to their highest levels across the country.
Petrol and diesel prices were again hiked by 35 paise per litre each, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.
Petrol price in Nagaland has breached the Rs.110/litre mark in seven districts while diesel was at its all time high in all the districts, which has crossed the Rs.100-mark a litre. The highest was in Tuensang, where a litre of petrol cost Rs. 111.03 and diesel at Rs. 103.24 per litre (See table).
Meanwhile, the Central government is in talks with several oil-exporting countries on the issue of supply and demand of oils but there is no possibility of immediate relief in prices. Earlier, a source told ANI that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas recently raised concerns about the matter of pricing, supply and demand of oils to the major oil-producing countries.
Fuel prices have never been so high in the country and experts are worried that it could seriously impact economic recovery. This is because fuel prices directly impact many essential and non-essential goods.
