Petroleum Dealers’ Association Dimapur (PDAD)—comprising of Dimapur, Nuiland and Chümoukedima districts— has expressed regret over the “unfortunate incident” that took place at M/s Highway Service Station, Padampukhuri, Dimapur on April 16, 2023 “due to miscommunication.”
In a press release, PDAD president Onen Aier and general secretary Pretso Therie stated that following the introduction of automation systems in all the retail outlets of the petroleum companies, the despising units give accurate data on sales and control over any adulteration. The association stated that all the dispensing units for all the retails outlets in Nagaland are inspected and sealed by the Inspector of the Legal Metrology & Consumer Department, before the sales are allowed. PDAD also informed that the actual vehicle tank capacity mentioned by the company in their manuals were lesser than the actual capacity of the fuel tank, which include the filter hose and breather circuit. It stated that as per the international standard, the actual capacity of the tank was more than the specific mention. The association said this was done to take care of the evaporative volume of the fuel vapours.
Appreciating the public and media for highlighting the problems and issues faced by the public at the retail outlets, the association has, however, requested the general public to take their grievances to the administration and police or with the association before going to the public to avoid further misunderstanding.
