Petroleum workers in the Northeast have threatened to go on indefinite strike from July 27 protesting non-implementation of the Minimum Wages Act, 1936. The strike has been called under the banner of the Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union (APMU). APMU president Munin Mahanta and general secretary Ramen Das informed that the union will boycott loading and unloading of petroleum products (oil and gas) throughout the North East during the period.
