Reacting to press statements issued by Shamator Village Council (SVC) head GB Shulimkiu and Kiusam Area GB’s Union (KAGBU) general secretary Khiungchumong Tikhir and Thangpong Tikhir, published on January 11, 2015, against its president Kiusemew Yimchungru, the Public Forum Pungro Sub- Division (PFPSD) stated that Kiusemew Yimchungru was a bona fide citizen of the Yimchungru tribe. In a press release, PFPSD vice president Kongsu and general secretary Khiutsethong stated that Kiusemew did not write or act in his individual capacity but “purely in a representative character as the president of PFPSD.”
Maintaining that Yimchungru tribe was a composition of six home dialects — Tikhir, Makury, Chirr, Phununger, Longfur and Langa, PFPSD said since Tikhir sub-dialect was one of the home dialects of Yimchungru tribe, the “above mentioned persons and all other persons from Tikhir sub-dialect” were the bona fide citizens of Yimchungru Tribe. Therefore, the forum said “they should immediately restraint themselves from speaking the lie in regard to their own kitchen affairs for the betterment of one and all.”
Stating that society becomes complex and corrupted because of few corrupted people, the PFPSD affirmed that in the event of unfortunate incident inflicted on its president Kiusemew Yimchungru or to any officials of the PFPSD or to any bona fide members of the Pungro Sub Division, the three persons aforementioned shall be held liable.
