Science Club of Phek Government College (PGC) organised a one-day field trip to Porba under Sakraba range on October 14. A press release from media cell PGC informed that the trip was organized to encourage students to develop a love for science.
The students visited Solar Dryer owned by an alumnus of PGC, Swuyievezo Dzudou in collaboration with Kirat Biotech, Assam attached to a private botanical garden and National Research Centre on Mithun – ICAR, Porba campus. During the visit, students of Botany learned about the uses of various medicinal plants. Chemistry Honours and General students also collected medicinal plant samples for experimental purpose. The students undergoing ‘Renewable energy and energy harvesting’ a Skill Enhancement Course as per CBCS and FYUGP curriculum offered by Physics department witnessed how solar energy was harnessed for drying various products through solar dryer.
