PGD/NPCC demands restoration of CT-Scan, mammogram machines at NHAK

Public Grievances Department (PGD) of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has demanded restoration of CT-Scan and mammogram machines at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK).
In a joint statement, co-chairman Public Grievances Department (PGD) Er. Meshenlo Kath and secretaries- Pito Assumi and Kaqheto- described the failure to maintain essential medical equipment in a government-run hospital as a poor reflection on the authorities responsible for promptly addressing such irregularities.

PGD said NHAK, being a well-established hospital serving the people of Nagaland, particularly those from rural areas who travelled to Kohima for medical care, should not have non-functionalmachinery.
The PGD also alleged that patients at NHAK were being directed to private hospitals for CT scans due to this issue and the financial burden on rural patients who expected affordable treatment at government hospitals.

Further PGD maintained that effective governance ensured the welfare and dignity of the public, which included providing reliable medical facilities. However, it said the apparent lack of urgency in addressing the issue by the stated government reflected poorly on its functionality.
PGD questioned authorities responsible for NHAK operating without proper CT-Scan and mammogram machines for over a year and demanded action.
PGD assured of its commitment in advocating the well-being of the people of Nagaland, irrespective of economic status, and was prepared to address shortcomings where the current government fell short.
It also requested the authority to take necessary action at the earliest in this regard, failing which it warned of taking necessary democratic action for the welfare of the people.
