PGOF holds biennial general conference

Pochury Gazetted Officers Forum (PGOF) held its 13th biennial general conference on Thursday at De Oriental Grand Kohima.
Speaking at the programme as guest speaker, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) finance department, V. Kezo encouraged officers to serve and contribute in building a better and just society. Lamenting the lack of work culture amongst the Nagas, he encouraged all to make efforts to bring about a change in Naga society. He asked officers to be source of positive change for the people and promote good values of life. In a brief address, president of Pochury Hoho Kohima (PHK), Atathu Thurr highlighted the gathering on the study on socio-economic and educational of backward tribe vis-a-viz by Khrielie Kevichusa committee report. Quoting the report, he said the figure of state government employees for Pochury tribe was 0.89% in 1998, 0.73% in 2010 which indicated that Pochury tribe employee percentage fell far below average of overall scores. In this regard, he urged PGOF to ascertain the exact employee percentage and highlight the same to the concerned authority and to Pochury community.
Pointing out that land inhabited by Pochuries is rich, Thurr said the resources should be exploited immediately and thus provide job opportunities to unemployed youths.  In his presidential address, PGOF president, Er. Chirhotho Rasutho Nyusou called upon officers to bridge the difference and build relation among the tribe. He urged the officer to let PGOF motto: “To serve with dignity” guide them while discharging their duties. The programme was chaired by PGOF vice president, Rhosietho Ngouri. Business hour was held during the second session.
