Realising the importance and imperative need of the district road passing through the village, which has become a better optional road connecting Tamenglong HQs with the state capital, BJP Unit of Phalong-II Duiga Village, Tamenglong District (Manipur), on January 28, organised a voluntary social work to repair the road.
Several BJP members of the village volunteered in the selfless act of service which also sought to grab the attention of the authorities to make the road an all-weather road.
Conducting the work within a stretch of more than two kilometres, the volunteers quarried stones and gravelled the road on several portion and elevated the road by filling a steep rivulet with boulders. Besides, the youths also conducted an informal interview with several drivers and commuters passing through the road, inviting their opinion and suggestion to improve the road urgently before the onset of monsoon.
It was noted that more than hundred vehicle passed through the road on daily basis.
Reflecting the voices of several drivers and commuters, BJP members of the village pointed out that unless the road is given proper attention by the government, most vehicle will stop plying once the monsoon started.
