Nagaland’s lone Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, S. Phangnon Konyak, would represent India at the second parliamentary conference on interfaith dialogue, scheduled to be held in Rome, Italy, from June 19-21, 2025.
Organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in partnership with the Italian Parliament and Religions for Peace, the high-level event would bring together speakers and members of parliament from across the globe, along with representatives from religious groups, governments, international organisations, UN bodies, academia, and civil society.
The theme of the conference is “Strengthening Trust and Embracing Hope for Our Common Future.”
Participation in the conference is strictly by invitation. Phangnon Konyak, who was nominated by vice president of India and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
In a statement, she conveyed appreciation to the vice president for nominating her to be part of the delegation. She described the upcoming event as a vital step toward embracing dialogue, inclusivity, and harmony across cultures and faith traditions.
