Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise was conducted in Old Jalukie, Old Tesen, Benreu village and Tening sub-division from April 15 to 19. The programme was sponsored by Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, PHED, Kohima.
During the programme, PRA team from WSSO, PHED, Peren division, interacted and discussed on the status of the village relating to water and sanitation issues with the members of the village councils, WATSAN, teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, youth leaders and church workers. The villagers were made aware of the clean India movement ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and Nirmal Gram Puraskar (clean village award).’
The team also emphasized on empowering local people. The villages were asked to take active role in analyzing their living conditions, problems and potentials to change the situation and achieve through collective action and responsibilities.
