PHED divisions kick off ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) divisions across the state kicked off “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” as part of series of events organised by government of India to commemorate the 75thanniversary of India’s Independence. 

In Dimapur, weeklong activities from July 1-7 marked the launch of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” in all sub-divisions of Dimapur district namely Dhansiripar, Kuhuboto, Niuland and Medziphema.

A press release by PHED (rural) division, Dimapur informed that the event was marked by cleanliness drives and tree plantation adjoining the main water sources.

The release stated that WATSAN and Swachhagrahis took active part in villages such as Sukhato, Vihokhu, Niuland headquarter and Dhansiripar headquarter.

The week-long events culminated at Sirhi Angami under Medziphema block by SDO Medziphema block, Ichirang Zeliang.

Kohima: PHED Kohima rural division marked the launch of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” by organising plantation drive at water sources and cleanliness drive at village area. The events would conclude on August 14.

The department official and district water sanitation mission staff along with the WATSAN, village council, swachhagrahis planted saplings adjoining water sources and village areas namely Khepfu water source, Tesophenyu village, Henjvuru water source Terogvunyu village, Zumpha CRBC water source and Kashanyishi village.

Following the tree plantation activities, the department said it would be conducting various activities like virtual interaction with Swachhagrahis, WATSAN, and village council on Field Testing Kit (FTK), capacity building and training, swachhatashramdhan (cleanliness drive) of traditional wells/ ponds/ drainage in the village.

Meanwhile, the department has urged the villagers and public to know their water quality by testing the water and further asked them to collect one litre sample of water from each source and submit at district laboratory, PHED water treatment plant Jotsoma.

Wokha: PHED Wokha kick started its calendar activities on July 6, in commemoration of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”.

According to DIPR report, the deaprtment led by executive engineer, Wokha, Imnazulu Ao carried out a plantation drive and cleanliness drive at the office premise and at Etsutchukha, which is the main water source for Wokha town.

The objective of the department was to sensitise the public about the importance of consuming clean and safe water.
