PHED Kiphire division organises training on skill development

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Kiphire division conducted a “basic training/workshop on skill development under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activity” on October 12 at EE, PHED office Kiphire.

A press release from the office of the executive engineer, PHED Kiphire informed that the training was conducted under the supervision of junior engineer Metmei Phom who in his address highlighted the objective and purpose behind the training.

He informed that the training on skill development under JJM was to ensure sustainability of the water supply infrastructure and to enhance the skill of village functionaries for operation and maintenance of assets.

He pointed out that skills and knowledge were the driving forces of economic growth and social development of any country.

“The economy becomes more productive, innovative and competitive through the existence of more skilled human potential”, he stated.

Under the training, supervisor along with master trainer demonstrated on how to use the equipment and methods involved in plumbing, masonry, welding and electrician.

This was followed by an activity that involved self-operation of the equipment and technical way of doing it. Later, certificates were presented to the participants on completion of the training. Altogether, 69 participants from 39 village participated and were trained and entrusted to overlook their village assets.
