Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Kohima observed “World Toilet Day 2023” under the theme, “Accelerating Change” with the students of Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Seikhazou, Government Middle School (GMS) Chandmari, Kohima and Government Middle School Naga Bazaar, Kohima.
A press release by PHED Kohima division stated that on November 15, the department observed the “WTD 2023” at the Conference Hall of Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire GHSS Seikhazou, Kohima, wherein, district coordinator, PHED Kohima division, Ashale Seb encouraged the students to do their best, in their best capacity, to make a difference in the field of water and sanitation.
As part of the programme, “Q&A” session was carried out by IEC and WASH consultant, PHED Kohima urban division, Vibou Seyie; hand washing was demonstrated by Jal Shakti Fellow, PHED Kohima division, Sedevino Peseyie while the students also engaged in toilet cleaning.
The programme was chaired by state sanitation and hygiene consultant, PHED, Nagaland, Lhousikhono Zinyü, and vote of thanks was delivered by state WASH consultant, PHED Nagaland, Ellies.
Later, on November 17, two teams from the department enlightened the students of GMS Chandmari, Kohima and GMS Naga Bazaar, Kohima about the significance of the day.
Activities relevant to the topic like hand washing with soap demonstration, toilet cleaning by students, MCQ etc., were also carried out. The programme was jointly organised by Sanitation and WSSO PHED, Nagaland and PHED, Kohima Rural and Urban Division.
