PHED Tuensang division observes World Toilet Day

A programme commemorating World Toilet Day was organised by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Tuensang Division and sponsored by Water, Sanitation and Support Organization, PHED Nagaland on Sunday at Tuensang town.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Chang Khulie Setshang (CKS), president, Nokhsang Chang, said that with the support from state government, the district has been witnessing improvement in hygiene related issues. However, he pointed out that there was still was still more to do to eradicate open defecation.
In this regard, he urged students to inculcate hygienic habits and lifestyle so that others would emulate them. Chang also appealed the people to follow and implement the government schemes with sincerity.
Also speaking on the occasion, program manager Eluetheros Christian Society (ECS), Toshila Chang, reminded that World Toilet Day was a day to remind all to retrospect their family health and hygiene.
She asserted that today due to the poor sanitation and unhygienic food habits many children have become victims of diarrhoea, typhoid, malaria etc.
Toshila stated that toilet and potable water supply was the basic necessity for healthy life and encouraged the students to practice the habit of washing their hands with soap after defecation and before eating.
Delivering a keynote address, IEC consultant PHED Tuensang division, Ashale Seb, stated that World Toilet Day was organised every year to spread awareness about the global sanitation crisis. 
The program was chaired by Easter Chang, invocation was said by Choba Chang, a class 10 student of Akum Imlong School Tuensang and special song was presented by class 10 students of Holy Angle School, Tuensang.
