PHED urban division Dmu informs consumers

In continuation of previous directives undertaken by the PHED urban division, the department has informed that “good number of un D metered/metered” connections have been disconnected in order to streamline water supply. 
A press release issued by EE, PHED urban division Dimapur, Er. P. Khetoi Awomi stated that a meeting held with minister PHED, commissioner & secretary PHED Nagaland, Kohima on September 4, 2015 decided that effective from December 1, 2015, all the existing un-metered connections would eventually be replaced by metering system in Nagaland in urban sector and administrative headquarters. 
The release also stated that in pursuance of the press release on November 14, 2015, the department undertook detailed inspection of water supply system with special emphasis on illegal/unauthorised tapping of water from Chumukedima (Patkai Bridge) to Nagarjan Main Reservoir (MR) along 300 mm diameter D.I. main pipe line. The department said following persons were found “illegally” tapping water from the main line: Mua Temjen, Heso Sema, Imli, Achumo Lotha and two other defaulters whose identity could not be ascertained, from Chumukedima Ward No. 1 and 2. It stated that the department has warned these six defaulters that repetition of such act shall invite legal proceedings as per Nagaland Water Supply Consumer Rule 1987 (1st Amendment 2011) if detected again.  The release also requested the consumers to arrange half inch (1/2 inch) G.I. Pipe or PVC Pipe from their own end to restore the water supply from Meter House/Control Box to their respective residence as per requirement.
