Phek DC & DEO warns against booth capturing

Basing on the Government order NO: ELE-SVEEP-GEN/19/2017/251 dated 7th June, 2017 and Rule 39 of Conduct of Election Rules 1961, Deputy Commissioner and  DEO, Phek Shanavas. C, (IAS), has warned of appropriate legal action against booth capturing and open declaration of support for a particular candidate.
In an order passed on February 16, Shanavas highlighted the order which reads “booth capturing and open declaration of support in favour of a particular candidate/political party by a village/ward/khel or community through public announcement and even through publication in electronic/print media which violates the secrecy of vote by electors.”
DC & DEO had stated that the order was issued in the interests of free, fair and transparent elections and of administering social orders against any village, ward, community, group of people or media house found violating or defying the said provisions in connection with the upcoming General Assembly Election to the State of Nagaland.
