The district administration and District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra (BBBP), Phek observed breast cancer awareness month on the theme, “Give Hope, Save Lives” starting from 1st week of October to 31.
A press release by district administration stated that, the campaign objective aimed to inform people about the importance of early treatment and diagnosis of breast cancer to control the progression.
The month of October was observed as breast cancer awareness month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.
According to WHO, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in developed and developing countries.
Lack of knowledge and information about the early signs and symptoms make the condition life-threatening.
Awareness campaign was celebrated by wearing pink patch by all staff and officers from district administration in support and to show every woman that her life was important.
