Phek DPDB deliberates on poor school results

DIMAPUR: Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting at DC’s Conference Hall, Phek, under the chairmanship of Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs and DPDB Chairman, K. G. Kenye.
According to DIPR report, at the meeting, the board deliberated on the poor performance of government schools in the recent HSLC and HSSLC examinations. Senior SDEO of Education Department, Phek, presented factors behind the results, following which the board discussed adoption of schools by DPDB members as a remedial measure.
Addressing the meeting, Kenye emphasized the importance of DPDB as a platform to understand grassroots needs and urged officers to attend meetings regularly. He also highlighted the State’s financial position and called upon departments to ensure judicious use of funds meant for development and beneficiaries.
The meeting further deliberated on the installation of a video conference facility in the DC’s Conference Hall, which was recommended to the government for approval. Deputy Commissioner & Principal Census Officer, Rhosietho Nguori, and EAC & Census Nodal Officer, Er. Mechietsho Koza, briefed members on Census operations and ongoing preparations for Census 2027. The status of the Pfutsero–Phek road, currently under process for handing over to the State R&B Department from NHIDCL, was also discussed. Executive Engineers of Pfutsero and Phek divisions updated the present status, while Kenye assured that he would take the initiative to approach the government for sanctioning funds for current maintenance of the road.
Departments of Social Welfare & Women Development and Food & Civil Supplies presented their activities in the district through PowerPoint.
