Phek District Planning & Development Board meeting was held at DPDB Conference Hall Phek on May 12 under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner and vice chairman DPDB Phek, Murohu Chotso.
According to an official bulletin, the chairman welcomed the Board members followed by self-introduction of new members. The Chairman reviewed the last meeting minutes and highlighted the minutes recommended to the Government as impartial and urged the members to clarify to the general public as and when required to avoid misunderstanding. He also reviewed the last year DPDB meeting held at different locations in all constituencies under Phek District to facilitate every corner of Phek District.
The proposal to upgrade Christian Model School Thipuzu from primary to elementary and sanction of Grant-in-aid presented by SDEO (Edu.) Chozuba was deliberated and recommended to the Government for necessary actions.
The meeting also deliberated the representation submitted by President of Phokhungri Public Organisation (PPO) regarding absence of telecommunications or any other network in an around Phokhungri Area and seeking permission to use Cordless FM Phones. The Board thoroughly discussed and decided to approach the concern department to erect Mobile/Telephone towers at Zhipu and Phokhungri. The Board also decided to designate Runguzou Nasa and Laruri Village as Pottery Village.
The Educational Institution at Phek Town was also discussed as there was only one Higher Secondary School at present. Principal GHSS Phek highlighted the enrollment capacity at GHSS Phek and expressed his regret for unable to enroll around 450 HSLC successful candidates seeking admission. Therefore the house decided to recommend the upgradation of Government High School Phek Town to Higher Secondary Section on emergency basis.
As entrusted by the Board in the previous DPDB meeting, the District Employment Officer gave a power point presentation on the departmental activities. Department of Art & Culture was entrusted to present their departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the chair.
