DIMAPUR: District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), Phek held its monthly meeting on July 10 at the DC’s Conference Hall, chaired by minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs and DPDB chairman, K.G. Kenye.
According to DIPR report, addressing the members, Kenye stressed the importance of the government’s policy of decentralizing planning and development to the district level. He urged officers and members to actively participate in DPDB meetings to ensure effective implementation of programmes. He also encouraged the Phek Town Council to initiate proposals for developmental funds under the Urban Local Body framework. Expressing concern over law and order, Kenye reminded the district administration and police to remain vigilant, noting Phek’s proximity to Manipur, a state often affected by conflict. He emphasized that constant alertness was necessary to safeguard peace and security in the district.
The meeting also deliberated on the unsettled issue of establishing a radar at Pfutsero. DC Phek Rhosietho Nguori and ADC Pfutsero Mhalo Lotha highlighted public sentiments opposing the project. Kenye directed ADC Pfutsero to submit a detailed report to DC Phek so that the state government could take an appropriate decision.
On development matters, the house approved schemes under the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) 2026–27 presented by DC and DPDB vice chairman Rhosietho Nguori. The board also discussed the registration of Dawn Library Welfare Society, Chozuba, endorsing the District Cultural Officer to proceed with necessary formalities.
Marketing challenges faced by cabbage growers of Razeba Range were raised, with District Horticulture Officer (DHO) Phek informing that the department was actively seeking buyers. He reported that 100 bags of cabbage had recently been purchased from the area.
Departmental presentations were delivered by DHO Kelhouzakie Chielie and DSCO Peleneilhou Patrick, highlighting activities of the horticulture and soil & water conservation departments for the welfare of farmers and the public.
The meeting also introduced a new member, Er. Chubatemsu Ao, Executive Engineer Power, Phek. The session was chaired by DC & DPDB vice chairman Rhosietho Nguori.
