The monthly Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of November was held at Shilloi Lake on November 9. The meeting was chaired by DC & DPDB vice-chairman, Phek, Orenthung Lotha.
According to DIPR, MLA, Yitachu exhorted the house to encourage and engage youth to venture into trade and business with south east countries under the “Look East Policy.” He pointed out that Nagas cannot survive only through government jobs. He also requested the board to request the Government of India to take up Avangkhu to Thamanti under International Road Connectivity.
The DC in his speech suggested that the area organize weekly trade activities with Myanmar. He apprised the house of plans for traders from Meluri to be engaged on a rotation basis to initiate trade activities at ITC Avangkhu.
Earlier, the meeting began with an opening prayer by pastor, Letsam Baptist Church, welcome address by ADC Meluri, Rhosietho Ngouri, a vote of thanks by Luchui Fithu, EAC, Phek.
