Phek observes MGNREGA Day

MGNREGA day was observed in Phek at the Conference hall of DRDA with Deputy Commissioner Murohu Chotso as Chief Guest.
During the function Chotso stated that the development in villages is a sign of gradual economic development which was possible only through MGNREGA. He urged VDB secretaries to be more transparent in utilization of MGNREGA funds and VDB audit should be in the pattern of Financial Year and not calendar year. He also mentioned that audit should be done in the month of April and audit reports should be supported by photographs.
Further he declared the names of the best VDBs from eight blocks and congratulated VDB secretaries for their sincere works and effort in utilizing the funds. Joint Director DRDB Imtiangshi highlighted the features of MGNREGA and urged VDB secretaries to play more proactive role in their respective villages as they play an important role in bringing not only development but also changing the rural economy.
On behalf of VDB secretaries, President Khusuzo Khamo appreciated DRDA and Block officers for their sincere work and also thanked the government of India for the scheme. He said that through MGNREGA the villages could construct Agri Link roads, irrigation channels, village circular roads, footsteps and village council halls. He also said that with the extension of roads and asset creation through MGNREGA the villages became cleaner, greener and more agricultural activities and crops yields have increased in many fields. The function was attended by VDB secretaries and Women VDB members.
