Phek town declared plastic free zone

Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) under the mission, “Clean Green Operation” has declared Phek town as plastic free zone, smoking free and eco-friendly town at the declaration ceremony held hospital junction, Phek, Friday. The event was graced by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA as special guest. 
Azo appreciated the PTYS for initiating the programme, which he said was the first of its kind to bring various changes in the town. 
He called upon every citizen to apply civic sense in maintaining cleanliness and take the responsibility of keeping the town clean, green and eco-friendly.
He maintained that one should keep one’s heart and mind clean and lamented that in “our” society there was no rooms for appreciation when “someone does good deeds”. Further, Azo called upon the gathering to learn how to appreciate others for any good jobs rendered to the society.
The programme chaired by Clean-Green Operation (CGO) convener, Nuyi Hoshi began with an invocation by pastor, Phek town Baptist church, Thepuchiyi Khesoh. 
Phek Town Public Welfare Forum, Vehuta Rhakho exhorted the gathering. 
Vote of thanks was delivered by president, Neihite Akami.
Earlier, on May 28, in continuation with its mission “clean-green operation” PTYS observed plantation day on May 28, with participation from all PTYS officials, Clean-Green team, church youth leaders, chairmen, GBs and volunteers from all the eleven colonies.
In a press CGO convenor, Nuyi Hoshi and member secretary Kozote Akami stated that more than two thousand tree saplings and more than 5000 flowers of different varieties were planted along the roads stretching from Bible hill colony to Clock Tower junction. 
Meanwhile, PTYS office bearers and Clean-Green team expressed gratitude to divisional forest officer, Ronsenmenla Imchen IFS for providing sufficient number of tree saplings and ornamental plants. They also lauded the eleven colony youth presidents for their pro active role.
