Phelem Konyak receives National Change Maker’s Award for social service

DIMAPUR: Phelem Konyak, popularly known as Tabitha Na-am Konyak and founder of Naam Academy and Learning Centre, has been conferred the prestigious National Change Maker’s Award 2026 in recognition of her outstanding grassroots humanitarian service and commitment to the welfare of underprivileged communities.
The award was presented at a ceremony held in Vadodara, Gujarat on October 7 and was jointly organised by Samanway Pratishthan in collaboration with the India Foundation. Phelem was honoured for her dedicated efforts in providing humanitarian assistance and free education to disadvantaged children and families.
Her work focuses on ensuring access to food, shelter, basic necessities, care and learning opportunities for children from economically weaker sections of society. Through her initiative, she has supported many vulnerable children who lack access to essential services and educational resources.
Founded in 2022, the Naam Academy and Learning Centre, formerly known as Naam Ministry, is based in Jahjon Ward, Mon district. The institution works extensively with children and youth from underprivileged and remote communities, including those living along the India-Myanmar border in Mon district.
Over the years, the centre has emerged as a platform for education, care and community support, reaching out to marginalized families and helping create opportunities for a better future.
The recognition highlights Phelem Konyak’s contribution towards social transformation through service and education and brings national attention to the grassroots efforts being undertaken in the remote regions of Nagaland. Her achievement has been widely appreciated as an inspiration for individuals and organisations working towards community development and social welfare.
