Phüsachodü Village celebrates platinum jubilee

One of the biggest villages under Phek district, Phüsachodü village celebrated its 75th anniversary of Christianity on December 9 and 10 at Phüsachodümi Baptist Church, Phek.

The platinum jubilee monolith was unveiled by Executive Secretary, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council Rev. Dr. Chekroveyi Cho-o, also the main speaker on December 9 based on the theme “Thus far the Lord has helped us” (1Samuel 7:12).

During the monolith erection, Rev. Dr. C. Cho-o highlighted the Naga tradition of erecting monoliths to commemorate significant deeds. In contrast to Israelites who erected stones as reminders of God’s faithfulness, Cho-o referenced the biblical event where Samuel erected a stone, naming it “Ebenezer” after God granted victory over the Philistines.
During the evening worship service, Rev. C. Cho-o delving into the jubilee’s theme, drew reference to Israel’s moments of tribulation and victory.

He expressed concern about the apparent spiritual emptiness despite grand church buildings, urging a renewed focus on teaching and passing on the Word while reminding the congregation that anniversary like the 75th was providential times to reflect on God’s grace.

Lamenting on the lack of spiritual depth amid knowledge expansion, Rev. C. Cho-o lamented upon the nominalism in Nagaland churches questioning the commitment to passing on faith, emphasizing the need to revive the flame of faith. Acknowledging the scriptural mandate for the Golden Jubilee celebration, he deemed other anniversaries as traditional and to and recommit for the future.

Earlier, former NLA Speaker, Chotisuh Sazo in his welcome address relived his childhood days recalling how the missionaries in the earlier years were subjected to persecution, humiliation and ostracization.

He further made public acknowledgment to the invitees and delegates as adopted citizens of the village in Christ’s name to the village. The anniversary souvenir was blessed and released by lead pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Dimapur, Rev. P. Bonny Resüh while advisor, CAWD& Taxes, Kudechoyi Khamo delivered greetings. Historically, the first convert from Phüsachodümi Village was baptized in 1948.
