DC Peren, Peter Lichamo inaugurated a piggery cluster promoted under North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) in Peren district on February 26.
The cluster covers 6 Self Help Group village federation in five villages in Peren block (Punglwa, Gaili, Ngwalwa, Heningkunglwa, and Mhainamtsi).
NERLP has implemented the schemes in Peren and Tuensang under ministry of DoNER Government of India supported by World Bank.
The main aim was to improve rural livelihoods especially that of women and unemployed youths. It also aimed to improve the rural livelihood through promotion of piggery as one of the livelihood option in Peren district.
The programe was chaired by project coordinator Peren block of NERLP, Heirangheing while welcome address was delivered by secretary Self Help Group Village Federation Punglwa sector B.
The chronology of the piggery cluster development and achievement under NERLP was shared by district project manager NERLP, Ruuvilie Kotsu.
