Pimla murder case: ZYON refuses to call off stir despite govt appeal

Staff ReporterDIMAPUR, AUG 21 (NPN)

Despite the state government’s appeal to withdraw its protest following the cancellation of bail granted to the accused in the Pimla murder case, the Zeliangrong Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) on Thursday affirmed that it would not call off agitation until its demand for publicly declaring the name of the accused was met.
ZYON president, R John Zeliang, told Nagaland Post that the organization would continue with its agitation until the law enforcing agencies, the judiciary, or the state government, formally declare the name of the accused in public.
“Even if the husband admitted the crime, it is the court that should give the judgment and release the name of the culprit. Until then, we will not call off the protest,” John Zeliang stated.
Further, he informed that ZYON would also boycott any further meetings convened by government departments until the demand was fulfilled.
He stated that ZYON’s fight was not confined to the Pimla incident alone but was a broader movement for the safety and dignity of all Naga women.
ZYON, along with several Peren-based CSOs, launched its second phase of agitation on August 19, intensifying its demand for speedy justice in the Pimla murder case.
