Centre Chakhesang Vehicle Union (CCVU) organized an awareness programme cum mass plantation drive from Khomi to Pfutsero (NEC Road) on August 27 with the cooperation of local functionaries of all the 7 Central Chakhesang villages in collaboration with Phek Forest Division.
Local species particularly fruiting and flowering varieties were planted above and below the road along a stretch of around 44 kms from Khomi to Pfutsero. CCVU organised the plantation drive with an aim to raise awareness amongst the community on forest protection as well as for soil and moisture conservation in order to prevent landslide and also for road safety. While speaking at the formal programme held at Sakraba village, DFO Phek Rongsenlemla Imchen IFS appreciated the effort of the CCVU, local community and public leaders of Central Chakhesang Area and said that Phek Forest Division would continue to support any local organisation or NGOs who share the same vision and the objectives with the department for the sole purpose of public welfare.
The CCVU, local functionaries and public leaders of the area thanked the DFO, ranger and Phek forest division for its valuable guidance and support.
