Plenty of avenues of work for youth: Metsubo Jamir

Minister, Rural Development (RD) and State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Metsubo Jamir said there are plenty of “avenues of work” for the many educated as well as for the uneducated youth if one was willing to return to the root of hard work and self-reliance.


He was speaking at the second day of the 39th Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) being held under the theme, “Liberated Education” (Nuchiba Shisaluyim) at Kubza Village, Thursday.
Addressing the students, Metsubo said the quest for education should be focussed on self-sufficiency, whereby the collective individual productivity leads to productive economy of the community with the principles of “dignity of labour”, which had been diligently professed by the forefathers.


The minister also said due homage should paid to the visionary founders and all past leaders of OKM. He then urged the present leaders to moved forward with clear vision to meet the challenges of the ever-changing world scenario.
Metsubo also released the OKM conference magazine titled “Limketer”.
Short speeches were also delivered by Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) president, Lanutoshi Aier and Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) president, R Sunep Pongen.


The programme was led by Imlinichetla, prayer by Ongpangkong Arogo Tenzuker Telongjem president, S Mar Aier, welcome address was delivered by Ongpangkong Students’ Conference president, Limatongzuk Jamir; special songs were presented by the conference choir and Chungtia Students’ Union.
