As part of the Angikaar campaign 2025, the PM Awas Mela Shehri was held on September 27 at the Directorate of Municipal Affairs, Kohima, serving as an outreach platform to promote beneficiary entitlements, sustainable housing and community participation.
According to a press release issued by the Municipal Affairs Department, State Level Nodal Agency, the event was graced by PMAY-U State Mission Director and Additional Director & HoD, Municipal Affairs Department, Temjenrenla Kechu.
Addressing the gathering, Kechu reiterated the Government’s commitment to achieving “Housing for All” through transparent and accountable processes. She emphasized that every stage—from beneficiary selection to fund release, construction monitoring and certificate distribution—was being carried out with transparency to ensure timely delivery of benefits without malpractice.
She also encouraged beneficiaries to engage with help desks and grievance redressal mechanisms set up under the Mission, assuring that the Department remains committed to providing fair and timely support.
The mela featured dedicated stalls and help desks for PMAY-U 2.0 and PMAY-U beneficiaries. New applicants were verified, while completion certificates were distributed to those who had completed construction of their homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
Aboriginal Energy also participated in the event by setting up a stall on the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, assisting and encouraging PMAY-U beneficiaries to apply for rooftop solar installations.
