PM-CARES: 14 beneficiaries selected

Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland also attended the virtual programme of the ‘PM Cares for Children’ scheme, during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi released benefits under the scheme via video-conferencing.
Fourteen beneficiaries from Nagaland were selected– Kohima (1), Dimapur (8) and Peren (5), out of which 12 have been verified and paperwork’s for the remaining two were underway.
As per the Ministry of Women & Child Development, financial support has been credited in the account of each identified child such that the corpus for each child becomes Rs. 10 lakhs at the time of 18 years of age. The child will receive a monthly stipend once they attain 18 years of age. It is also notified that by investing the corpus of Rs. 10 lakhs, a child above 18 years will receive a stipend till they attain 23 years of age. An ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000/- per deceased parent through SDRF-MHA directions.
The PM cares for Children Scheme also included to support for boarding and lodging and the financial support as prescribe for non-institutional care under the Central or State Scheme has been provided to the Children as per the eligibility under the Scheme. Under Child Protection Service (CPS) Scheme, Children staying with relatives receiving Rs. 2000 per month will now receive Rs. 4,000 per month with effect from 1st April 2022.
Under the Prime Minister Cares for Children Scheme, entitlement in Financial Support, Support for Boarding and Lodging under the relevant Scheme, Assistance for School Education, Assistance for Higher Education and Entitle in Health Insurance under Ayushman Bharat Scheme (PMJAY) with health insurance cover of Rs. 5 Lakhs.
It may be mentioned that the Department of Social Welfare- State Adoption Resource Agency, Child Protection Services along with the District Magistrate has identified the children with assistance of District Child Protection Unit and Child Welfare Committee, through circulars and advertisement through newspapers, creating awareness about the PM Cares scheme.
The programme was attended by Minister of Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue & Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu; advisor, School Education, K T Sukhalu; advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr.Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire; advisor of Elections and Technical Education, Medo Yhokha and Keneizhakho Nakro MLA, DC, Kohima , Gregory Thejawelie; Principal Director of School Education, Shanavas C, along with stake holders, officials of Social welfare. The beneficiary from Kohima district was handed over by minister, Neiba Kronu.
Meanwhile, a video conference on PM CARES for Children Schemes was held at Town Hall, ADC Hq. Peren on Monday.
In the event, EAC Peren Hq. Kevethito Rose highlighted on the scheme.
At the programme, DC Peren, SentiwapangAier handed over the PM CARES kit to the children during the programme.
ADC Hq. Peren, Keyirangding Hegui in his closing remark expressed gratitude to all the line departments.
