Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also make trips to Assam to unveil various projects, Sarma said in a post on X.
“In the coming days, Assam will welcome a galaxy of national leaders, including Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji & Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji, to inaugurate transformative projects,” he said.
These projects will propel the state’s growth to new heights, reflecting Assam’s rising stature in the ‘new India’, Sarma said.
Talking to reporters, he said over the next two months, the PM and HM will visit Assam for several programmes.
“In December, the PM will inaugurate the new terminal of Guwahati airport. He will also lay the foundation stone of the 12 lakh MT urea and ammonia factory at Namrup,” Sarma said.
In July, Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company Ltd (AVFCCL), a new brownfield Ammonia-Urea company, was incorporated in Namrup of Dibrugarh district. A new plant within the existing premises of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corp Ltd (BVFCL) was approved by the Union Cabinet in March.
Sitharaman, in her budget speech had announced a new urea plant with an annual capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tons at Namrup.
“In January, the PM will again come to dedicate the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge over the Brahmaputra to the public. He will also unveil the elevated corridor in Kaziranga, Silchar-Guwahati expressway, IIM-Guwahati and other important projects,” Sarma said.
Shah will come in the last week of December or the first week of January to inaugurate the Jyoti-Bishnu complex with a seating capacity of 5,000 in Guwahati, he added.
“He will also roll out different projects at Batadrava, the birthplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva,” the CM said.
Besides, the Union home minister will address a meeting of BJP’s booth committee presidents in Guwahati, he added.
“Sitharaman will arrive here tomorrow. She will interact with around 300 promising youths engaged at the semiconductor unit in Jagiroad. She will also inaugurate the ship terminal at Brahmaputra in Guwahati along with the riverfront project,” Sarma said.
On November 8, Sitharaman will go to Gohpur and lay the foundation stone for the Swahid Kanaklata Barua State University.
The Assam Cabinet in June had approved the development of the varsity at a cost of Rs 400 crore.
Sarma further said, “On November 9, Rajnath Singh will arrive and take part in an air show by the Indian Air Force.”
The Indian Air Force will organise an air show, displaying its entire range of fighter and transport aircraft, in Guwahati on November 9 as part of its 93rd anniversary.
