
An awareness program on Pradhan Mantra Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) was organised by the department of Industries & Commerce (DIC), sponsored by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, on November 22 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.A press release by DIC stated that in a keynote address, joint director of industries & commerce, Vitsutho Nyuthe, mentioned that the Central government has approved a new Central Sector Scheme – Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (scheme for agro-marine processing and development of agro-processing clusters) with an allocation of Rs. 6,000 crore for the period 2016-20 co-terminus with the 14th Finance Commission cycle. He said the scheme would be implemented by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and that PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana, and it was a comprehensive package which would result in creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from the farm gate to the retail outlet. Nyuthe then requested the entrepreneurs to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes so that the state could grow in this sector. Resource persons, deputy director of agriculture, Bodevei Shuya and deputy director of horticulture, Meyasashi, highlighted the vast potentials in utilizing the available agriculture and horticulture resources of the state.The FPI Cell from the Directorate of Industries & Commerce presented the details of the scheme and vote of thanks was delivered by functional manager DIC Kohima, Lalsonkim Singson.
