An enrolment drive under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and an awareness programme on women welfare schemes was held at Panchayat Hall, Viswema Village, on July 22.
According to DIPR report, the event was organised by Kohima District Administration in collaboration with SANKALP – District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), as part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.
The programme was chaired by Diethuvino Lhoushe, Supervisor under CDPO Jakhama Project, who highlighted key features of PMMVY aimed at maternal and child welfare. Village Council Chairman, Tebul Neikha, appreciated the district administration and departments for organising the outreach programme in the village.
During the camp, Aadhaar enrolment for girls aged 0–5 years was conducted on the spot by the District Administration and Department of Social Welfare. The Department of Post also facilitated the opening of Indian Post Payments Bank (IPPB) accounts.
Officials said the programme witnessed active participation and aimed to bring essential services closer to rural women and children.
