Assam Congress, vice president, Pradyut Bordoloi said that Narendra Modi had only repeated in Tuensang today, whatever he had said four years ago on December 1, 2014 at the Kisama Hornbill Festival.
The former Assam minister alleged that the NDA government, led by Narendra Modi after all their promises back then, had conveniently forgotten about the promises after reaching Delhi and withdrew the North East schemes.
In a press conference, at Aier’s enclave here on Thrusday, Bordoloi stated that the policy proposed by the Congress party in 2007 was designed especially to expand economic activities and create employment and infrastructure and it was suppose to continue till March 31, 2017, since it had been ten year policy, however Modi had gone back and promptly forgotten the schemes.
Comparing it to “a nail in the coffin”, he said the economic activities in the North Eastern region completely stopped, not only in Assam but all the other North Eastern states.
He questioned Narendra Modi’s sincerity towards the North Eastern region, accusing him of being a “liar of the third order.”
Bordoloi asserted that the Congress party was very respectful to the aspirations of the people of Nagaland.
As a national party, the Congress party was ready and confident to fulfil the desires of the Naga people for a “Solution before election”, but the carpet was dragged out from under them by Rio’s NDPP and BJP, he alleged.
He also alleged that every independent civil society and organization of Nagaland were looking forward to clean elections, however, money and muscle power were being brought into play in the elections.
Bordoloi pointed out that the NDPP and BJP alliance were spending huge amounts of money for advertisements in print media and the electronic media of Nagaland.
Promising that the Congress party would vigilantly focus on its commitment to contest clean elections, Bordoloi said that the party would put up a spirited fight. He expressed hope that the people of Nagaland would decide with perception of democratic values.
Also briefing the media persons, AICC observer, Capt. Praveen Davar alleged that the BJP party has been trying to gain a strong foothold in the North East in attempts to sow Hindutva agendas.
He was confident the people of Nagaland would not vote for BJP who he accused of trying to dilute the secular ideology of Nagaland.
“Modi is trying to change the culture, the ethos of Nagaland”, Praveen stated.
He was sure that the people of Nagaland will realise this and would not let the BJP ideology seep into Nagaland.
He also said that NDPP leader and former chief minister, Neiphiu Rio had been justifying his alliance with the BJP despite the BJP’s track record of communalism which, according to him, was well known in the country. He said that Rio would regret his decision to align with the saffron outfit and opined that Rio had dug his own political grave.
