Poacher, car lifters arrested

Dimapur Police on Tuesday night arrested one Shankar Sonkar, son of Late Mahadev Sonkar of Ghorakpur (UP), a resident of Ram Janaki, Thakur Bari, for killing two Asiatic Bears at the Rangapahar Wildlife Sanctuary and Zoological Park at Thilixu, Dimapur on August 18. Police said the two biles which were removed from the carcasses of the bears have also been recovered from his possession. Police have forwarded the accused to judicial custody and further investigations are on. Meanwhile, Police also arrested two car lifters the same night and recovered one auto-rickshaw from them which was later handed over to the owner. Police identified the accused as Nthunga Kath alias Kunal, son of Late Senkiya Kath of Tseminyu, presently residing at Padumpukhuri and Toshiwapang, son of Late Bendangsangba of Mopunchukit, presently residing at Sovima village, 6th Mile.
