The 58th general conference of the Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) held under the theme “breaking barriers” came to an end on December 20 at Matikhrü village under Meluri sub-division.
A press release by NSF media cell stated that NSF president Ninoto Awomi graced the occasion as the valedictory guest. Addressing the gathered students, Awomi said that Naga society was in a fragmented state where “tribalism, faction-ism, departmentalism and clan-ism have destroyed the credibility of the Naga society” and that the inaction and the deafening silence of the educated youths have done more harm than good.
“Until and unless we come out from those shackles, we will soon corrode away in our false sense of pride and vanity,” he stated.
He therefore urged the students’ community to come out from the comforts and take active participation in social activities, participate in public debates and become an agent of change. Further, Awomi encouraged the students to take courage and set their mind on their goals reminding them on the struggle in order to succeed in their career. Outgoing PSU president, Er. Joyson Yitsüthu presented a short speech on behalf of the outgoing executives.
