A one-day awareness programme on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was conducted at Sainik School Punglwa on October 13 by a six-member team from the District Child Welfare Committee, Peren.
The programme focused on legal and reporting mechanisms, child rights, and protection, with the aim of educating cadets about their rights and the importance of reporting sexual offences against children.
Resource persons highlighted the role of the Child Helpline 1098, its services, and the consequences of sexual harassment.
They also explained the reporting procedures and emphasized the need for vigilance and awareness among youth.
The event was attended by all cadets and staff of the school.
A vote of thanks was proposed by the school counsellor on behalf of the Principal, staff, and cadets, appreciating the team for their informative and impactful session.
The initiative was aimed to empower the cadets with awareness to protect them and others from sexual offenses.
