Police allay fears after alleged abduction scare

A voice note alleging the kidnapping of two students near local ground, Diphupar that went viral on social media Wednesday sparked widespread concern among residents. However, police have since clarified that the two boys were released unharmed after the suspects confirmed they were students.
According to police sources, the incident occurred when the two students were allegedly picked up by three unidentified individuals travelling in a dark grey vehicle with an Assam registration number.
One of the students later appeared at the police station and recorded his statement, in which he recounted that both he and his friend were forcibly taken on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs.
It was learnt that the duo were released at 3rd Mile area once the individuals confirmed that they were students and were not carrying any contraband substances.
Police further informed that while one of the victims has given a statement, efforts are still underway to contact the other student, whose statement was yet to be recorded at the time of filing this report.
